Ruth Reay(MA,UKCP reg.)

I have many years of experience in family therapy both as a practitioner and trainer.I recently retired from a NHS Outreach Team supporting families in difficulties, and now practice independently. Many of my current clients are experiencing relationship difficulties and I often enable them to find easier ways of communicating with each other. I specialise in helping couples to think through their situation and come to a more positive view of their relationship whether they decide to stay together or go their separate ways.As a parent and grandparent I enjoy seeing two and three generation families and helping them to sort out complex inter relationships.

I am registered with UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy) which means that I follow a code of practice and ethics approved by the UKCP. I have regular supervision and engage in continuing professional development.

I am committed to understanding and working with people of all backgrounds, and welcome enquiries from people of all religions, ethnicity, sexual orientation, ability and age.

How we work together will depend on your needs. The first meeting will be spent in discussing the difficulties that have brought you to seek therapy, and thinking about what you would want to achieve through meeting. We will discuss possible timescales for the work and frequency of meetings.

I structure our meetings carefully to enable you to feel safe and supported as you explore the issues that are affecting you. We will review our work at regular intervals and agree the goals for the next phase of work.
