About Counselling and Psychotherapy in Buckinghamshire
I offer Systemic Psychotherapy which takes account of the whole context of peoples' lives including personal relationships, and the relationship between our thinking, behaviour, emotions and beliefs.
I can help couples to re-connect and to understand each other in a new way. Couples can use the space to work out how to stay together or how to live separately.
I aim to bring families together in a safe and supportive environment to explore their relationships and to focus on strengths and solutions.
I provide a safe and non judgemental space for individuals to explore feelings, experiences and relationships. This may be during a crisis, or as a way of getting to know themselves better.
Systemic Psychotherapy incorporates elements of other approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focussed Brief Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapies.
What are the differences between psychotherapy and counselling?
There are more similarities than differences. Psychotherapy is more in depth and addresses psychological problems that have built up over years, whereas counselling helps people to resolve specific crises or stress.
Both involve entering a relationship with a trained professional in order to come to a fuller understanding of the issues affecting peoples’ lives. Both are based on the belief that everyone has the capacity for change, and both use skilled listening as the foundation of the work.
